- DiscussionHi guys! I’ve recently been gifted some carving knives and I’d like to start carving but I have little to no knowledge, where to start? Books to read? Videos to watch? Artists to follow? Practices to try? I’m just looking to get my feet on the ground with it.1
- DiscussionI am a partner for Beaver Brothers Trading Company on Prince Of Wales Island, AK along with Quinn Aboudara. He is our resident blacksmith and I am our resident tanner. I got into trapping for food and furs due to high food costs and low quality of meats. I have been struggling with fleshing and tanning beaver pelts so they can be sewn by hand or by machine. My issue is they are either paper thin or too thick! I have tried breaking them in and experimenting with different thickness and continue to struggle to get them to a point where a sewist can create a viable and long lasting product. I currently do not have a tumbler and probably won’t have one for some time and would love any tips or suggestions!1
- DiscussionHi, I’m Haylie from Rustic Clay AK in Anchorage. I love to create and collaborate & open for ideas! I mostly stick with wheel thrown bowls, mugs, and vases. I have worked with artists who carve their designs into the vessels . Let me know if you have ideas or interests in creating something!1
